Freeride Adventure in the Heart of Asian Powder – Tien Shan, Kyrgyzstan
This winter, join us for a snow-filled adventure in the land of endless peaks, deep powder, and warm-hearted people.
What awaits you:
The untouched, boundless wilderness of the Tien Shan Mountains
The exhilarating feeling of freedom amidst breathtaking alpine scenery
Long, flowing descents on pristine snow under the whisper of your skis
A genuine cultural encounter with the welcoming people of Kyrgyzstan – all in great company
Kyrgyzstan is one of the most mountainous countries on Earth, with an average elevation of 2,750 meters. Home to the elusive snow leopard, it offers access to two of the planet’s most impressive mountain systems – the Tien Shan and the Pamir-Alay. The town of Karakol serves as the gateway to endless white slopes, making it a dream destination for freeride enthusiasts.
Our journey begins at Sofia Airport, flying via Istanbul to Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. In the Land of the Forty Tribes, we won’t linger in the cityscape of Soviet architecture — instead, we’ll head straight to Karakol. Following the legendary Silk Road, we’ll stop by Issyk-Kul, the country’s largest lake, known to locals as the “Warm Lake.” Surrounded by otherworldly rock formations and backed by the vast wilderness that draws us here, Issyk-Kul is one of the true natural wonders of Central Asia.
Upon arrival in Karakol, we’ll stretch our legs (and skis) with an afternoon ride. While the local ski area offers lift access, our focus will be on exploring beyond the boundaries. On our first full day, we’ll head into the backcountry with skis and splitboards, guided by top mountain professionals in search of that perfect, silky powder.
We’ll ride through some of the wildest and most beautiful alpine zones on Earth, adapting our daily plans to the weather and conditions. Expect skin tracks to remote summits, untouched lines, and the perfect mix of deep snow, safe terrain, and sweeping views. For those who want an extra thrill, the area also offers a local twist on heli-skiing – snowcat or snowmobile-assisted freeriding.
Our accommodation will blend local charm with comfort — the perfect balance for rest and recovery after long days on the mountain. Beyond the skiing, this trip is also a cultural immersion: we’ll savor homemade Kyrgyz cuisine, listen to local stories, and experience the warmth and spirit of life in the Tien Shan.
We’ll be joined by one of Bulgaria’s most experienced mountaineers and skiers, alongside a licensed local guide who knows every hidden slope and secret valley in the region.
